Precision Normalization Published

  • PRECISION SPINS → v1.2. The scoring pane now publishes the Precision Display Score (PDS) normalization — the formula and the anchors T100 = 340.5 s (score 100) and TZERO = 1,840.5 s (score 0). PRECISION was the only Trial publishing a raw score with no 0–100 conversion, which left no published path from a Precision Raw Time to the Total Trials Score that Appendix A sums. It now matches ACCURACY's ADS panel (scoring spec PRECISION v1.2).
  • Term definitions completed. Every term in the raw-time formula now carries its constant — 60 s per missed gate, the 100′ AGL ceiling, 125 s per Mk-82 and 17.85 s per 2.75″ rocket unexpended, k = 1 s per metre of miss distance, and the 7,500 m per-weapon clamp that prices a jettison. Raw Time gains the crash-stop rule.
  • Gun-penalty wording corrected. MRP and URP read “(% of 20MM rounds …) × 100”, which multiplies a percentage by 100 and overstated both penalties 100-fold as written. Restated as the ratio the specification defines. No scored value changes — the scorer has always run the ratio form; this was pane text only.

Trials Score Anchors Re-Tuned; Aggregation Method Published

  • ACCURACY SPINS → v1.1. The normalized-score anchors are re-tuned from measured flight data: ABEST 99.30 → 85.19 s and AZERO 714 → 335.19 s (scoring spec ACCURACY v1.1). PRECISION's anchors move in the same pass (T100 258 → 340.5 s, TZERO 9,892 → 1,840.5 s, scoring spec PRECISION v1.1) — the PRECISION pane publishes those anchors in v1.2, above. Penalty values are untouched everywhere; only the 100-point and 0-point anchors move, so each Trial's score spread carries comparable weight. SPEED is unchanged. The scorer picks up the new anchors in its next release.
  • Methodology on record. The Clamp Doctrine under Governance documents how these anchors were derived and validated — measured perfect-run floors plus a 30,000-run-per-candidate simulation corpus converging the three Trials at near-identical score spread.
  • Appendix A → v1.3. Trials aggregation is now published as flown: each Trial produces a normalized 0–100 display score, and the Total Trials Score is the sum of the three (SPEED + PRECISION + ACCURACY). The former placement-points table (800–100 by place) was never operationally used and is retired. Tie resolution is unchanged, retargeted to Total Trials Score ties.

Defeat Credit Before an Overshoot Stands

  • DOGFIGHT SPINS → v1.7.4. The overshoot defeat-precedence wording is corrected: suppression is one-sided — only a defeat that would credit within 1.0 s after a credited overshoot is suppressed, so the overshoot maneuver itself never also pays a defeat. A defeat credited before the overshoot stands: breaking the shot and forcing the flush that follows are two separate defensive credits (scoring spec BFM v1.10).
  • No scorer change. The scorer has always applied the one-sided rule; the earlier “±1.0 s” wording in the spec and SPINS was the error. Scoring behavior in past and future sets is unaffected.

Overshoot Requires Defensive Entry

  • DOGFIGHT SPINS → v1.7.3. A Forced Overshoot is now credited only to a competitor reversing out of a defensive state — you must have been on Defense within 10 s before the earlier of the two role-reversal crossings. An overshoot cannot be forced from Neutral (scoring spec BFM v1.9).
  • Detection live in the scorer. The overshoot detector was rebuilt to anchor on the two angle-off-nose crossings the SPINS publishes, with the same hold, cooldown, and defeat-precedence — scorer v13.31.

Full Overshoot Detection Published

  • DOGFIGHT SPINS → v1.7.2. The scoring pane now publishes the complete Forced-Overshoot detection the scorer runs — the two angle-off-nose crossings that define a role reversal, the timing window between them, the ≥ 0.50 s hold, cooldown, and defeat-precedence. Overshoot was previously shown award-level only; it now matches the full-detail treatment of every other scoring term.
  • Detection made more forgiving. The pairing window between the two role-reversal cues was widened (0.60 s → 1.5 s, scoring spec BFM v1.8) so a slower, wider flush — attacker driven out in front over about a second — still scores. Award (+15 s), the ≥ 0.50 s hold, and cooldown unchanged.

Pursuit Sustain Lengthened to 8 Seconds

  • DOGFIGHT SPINS → v1.7.1. Pursuit now requires 8 continuous seconds of chase geometry before it credits or activates scoring, up from 5. At 5 seconds the gate fired on ordinary post-merge extensions; 8 seconds filters normal extensions and reattacks while still punishing a genuine one-sided run. Chase cones, the 5.0 kft range gate, and the 3.0 s-per-second rate are unchanged.

Pursuit Activates Immediately

  • DOGFIGHT SPINS → v1.7.0. Pursuit Activation now fires the instant a competitor is chased for 5 continuous seconds — scoring starts and Pursuit Time accrues immediately, rather than waiting for the 20-second Merge Window. A runner can no longer sit unpenalized for the window; refusing to fight is losing from the moment pursuit is established.
  • Merge Window scope. The 20-second window now governs only the mutual no-merge case (both fighters decline → 0-0 and stands).

Full-Detail Dogfight Scoring in the SPINS

  • DOGFIGHT SPINS → v1.6.0. The scoring pane now publishes the complete Unified Impact Score specification — engagement states, every term definition, activation and Merge Window logic, the Gun Solution and Weapons Defeated detection thresholds, kill handling, tie-breakers, and a constants reference — matching exactly what the scorer computes. Replaces the previous simplified subset.
  • Terminology cleaned up. Broadcast nicknames (Kill-Box, Pressure, Spoil, and the rest) are removed from the scoring terms; the Control Zone floor now reads 800 ft. Forced Overshoot is published at award level while its detection logic completes validation.

Standing Methodology

Clamp Doctrine — How the Score Anchors Are Set

Each Trial's 0–100 display score is pinned by two anchors, and neither is a guess. The 100-point anchor is a measured perfect run: flown, recorded, and extracted from flight data, plus a small pad for competition realities — PRECISION's includes the measured, unavoidable time above the altitude cap in the attack pops; ACCURACY's includes a 10-rounds-per-kill gun standard. The zero-point anchor is a ruled span below it. 100 sits at our assessed physical limit — a score above it is treated as exceptional and draws an automatic review of the run's scoring.

The spans were set through a purpose-built scoring simulation: the canonical scoring formulas, seeded with the measured baseline flights, generating more than 30,000 simulated runs per candidate clamp value and re-tested with every field assumption pushed both tighter and sloppier than expected, so the selected values had to hold everywhere, not under one guess. Those values converge the three Trials' score spread at sigma 0.65 / 0.67 / 0.70 (SPEED / PRECISION / ACCURACY) — near-identical, so each Trial carries equal weight in the Total Trials Score — and the imbalance they corrected was visible in the measured spread of the OTS-2 qualification submissions. Clamp values are re-tuned only between competition windows; every change is versioned, published, and recorded in the Release History.

Precision Normalization Published

The PRECISION scoring pane publishes the Precision Display Score normalization — PDS = 100 × (TZERO − Tprec) / (TZERO − T100), with T100 = 340.5 s and TZERO = 1,840.5 s. PRECISION had been the only Trial publishing a raw score with no 0–100 conversion, leaving no published path from a Precision Raw Time to the Total Trials Score. Every term in the raw-time formula now carries its constant, and the MRP/URP wording is corrected from “% × 100” to the ratio the specification defines — a text defect only, no scored value changes.

Defeat Credit Before an Overshoot Stands

The overshoot defeat-precedence rule is corrected to one-sided suppression: only a defeat that would credit within 1.0 s after a credited overshoot is suppressed — the overshoot maneuver itself never also pays a defeat. Pursuit Sustain Lengthened to 8 Seconds

Pursuit now requires 8 continuous seconds of chase geometry before it credits or activates scoring, up from 5. At 5 seconds the gate was firing on ordinary post-merge extensions — a fought set that separated for ~15–20 seconds could hand the chaser a set-dominating Pursuit Time that had nothing to do with running the clock. Eight seconds filters normal extensions and reattacks while still punishing a genuine one-sided run, which lasts far longer. Chase cones, the 5.0 kft range gate, and the 3.0 s-per-second rate are unchanged.

Pursuit Activates Immediately

Scoring now activates the instant a competitor holds pursuit geometry for 5 continuous seconds — Fight’s On triggers and Pursuit Time accrues right then, instead of waiting for the 20-second Merge Window. A runner no longer gets an unpenalized head start; the Merge Window now governs only mutual refusal (0-0 and stands).

Dogfight Anti-Running (Pursuit Time)

Running from the fight is now scored against the runner: a pursuing competitor accrues Pursuit Time while chasing a fleeing opponent, and one-sided running activates scoring at the Merge Window rather than banking a 0-0. Makes refusing to fight strictly losing at any cumulative lead.

Dogfight Merge Window & UIS Deny Weighting

UIS scoring and the match clock start at Scoring Activation — first closure inside 1.0 NM after "Fight's On." A set with no activation inside the 20-second Merge Window is terminated by CLASSIC and recorded 0-0. Defensive spoil time now credits at half rate (0.5 × TDENY) — offensive pressure out-pays denial.

Dogfight Tie Resolution & Set-1 Altitude

Dogfight tie resolution restored to the four-step cascade ending in a sudden-death re-fly. Charter § 3.3.4 corrected: set-1 altitude assignment is fixed by seeding — higher seed takes the high fighter.
